With more than three decades of experience, Ronald Ragatz has built a reputation for handling some of the most complex and high-stakes environmental disputes.

Ragatz is a partner with DeWitt Law Firm, where his practice focuses on Superfund litigation, cost recovery and contribution claims under CERCLA, insurance coverage disputes and environmental enforcement defense.

His vast experience includes serving as lead counsel in multi-party cases like the PCB contamination of the Fox River, a $1.5 billion exposure. He has also recovered millions of dollars in insurance funds for companies facing environmental liabilities after carriers initially denied coverage.

“I think the guiding principle is to try to work through problems cooperatively for benefits that are, hopefully, as close to a win-win for every up to the point where that isn’t going to be possible, and you have to be prepared to take the next step and get it decided by the court,” Ragatz said.
