Environmental Law Attorney – Diane Marchik, Godfrey & Kahn

Joining Godfrey & Kahn straight of law school, Diane Marchik’s approach to practice is rooted in advice she received from an interviewer.

“He prefaced it by saying whether you work with us or somewhere else, here’s what matters: work with people you like, advocate fiercely with civility and remember to pay it forward,” Marchik said. “I feel very strongly that paying it forward by mentoring the next generation of attorneys in environmental law is the most important thing I can do.”

Marchik is a shareholder with the firm’s Milwaukee office, where she’s spent her 35-year career focusing on environmental law matters. She has extensive experience in representing clients in brownfield redevelopment projects including the Kenosha Lakefront redevelopment. Her practice also includes representation in permitting and enforcement under programs like the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Toxic Substance Control Act and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, among others.

Marchik is a member of the State Bar’s Environmental Law Section and the American Bar Association’s Natural Resource Section, in addition to serving as co-chair for the Milwaukee Bar’s Environmental Section.
