Paul Kent has experienced firsthand the ebb and flows of environmental law and not only a practicing attorney but as an educator.

“I started teaching in 1989 and it was the first wave of interest in environmental law. We had a huge attendance, and people were focused on pollution,” Kent said. “In the early 2000s, interest in environmental law had fallen off. I’ve been very encouraged in the last four to five years now that class attendance is up, and I’ve seen that it’s a more holistic approach. Students are interested in the interchange of energy and environmental issues.”

Kent is a partner at Stafford Rosenbaum where he focuses on environmental regulatory matters with a special emphasis on water issues. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School.

He played a key role in the Waukesha Water Diversion Project, working with the City of Waukesha and various government and environmental agencies to responsibly pull water from Lake Michigan to meet the public water supply needs while protecting the Great Lakes and its surrounding environment.
