Matos stakes spot as IT guy at Husch Blackwell

Davis Matos has always had a love for information technology.

“Every year there is always something new and better in the field or a better way to do things,” said Matos, desktop support analyst for Husch Blackwell.

Matos has worked at the firm for nearly nine years, a time in which he has helped every one of his fellow employees with IT questions.

“He is always quick to go the extra mile, even traveling to our team members to assist when they have run into IT problems,” said Mindi Giftos, Madison office managing partner at Husch Blackwell.

“He is also quick to work long hours when needed to ensure that we can be up and running,” Giftos added. “This winter, Husch Blackwell not only updated its devices and software, our Madison office also grew by more than 50 percent. The updates and growth required significant high level IT expertise and service.”

Matos said he enjoys even the difficult parts of his job. Comparing himself to a detective, he said he has to get to the bottom of every inquiry that comes across his desk.

Before the pandemic hit, Matos was working on improvements to his office’s hardware and software.

“I managed to finish it on time, but then the coronavirus (pandemic) came, bringing its own challenges that we successfully confronted by moving to a working from home setup,” he said.

“I worked hard making sure that we had what we needed to be able to keep working as we were at the office.”

Giftos said that Matos regularly goes above and beyond his duties at the firm.

“We are extremely fortunate to have him on our team as he regularly enables us to work well and work efficiently,” she said.
