Lindsay Guadarrama is a paralegal at Arellano & Phebus, S.C., where she serves as lead paralegal overseeing the firm’s workers’ compensation department.

Guadarrama joined Arellano & Phebus, S.C. in December 2017 as an intern bilingual receptionist and legal assistant. She quickly assisted the team in various areas of law including personal injury, immigration and workers’ compensation. Approximately two years later, she was promoted to lead paralegal in the workers’ compensation department.

In her current role, Guadarrama oversees case progression, files hearing applications and certifications of readiness, organizes and files exhibits, and tracks settlements. She began at the firm without legal experience, following a traditional path by performing clerical tasks before gaining proficiency and taking on increased responsibilities.

“My passion is helping others, especially in underprivileged communities,” Guadarrama said. “Being a paralegal has given me the opportunity to advocate for working people going through physical and financial difficulties due to work injuries.”

The majority of the firm’s clients are Latinos with various language and education backgrounds. Guadarrama uses her bilingual skills to explain complex legal terms and processes in clients’ native language to help them understand their cases and the legal process.

“I am fortunate to work at a firm like Arellano & Phebus, S.C. where I have gained knowledge in several areas of the law,” she said. “I appreciate the firm’s priority of training and teaching which has ensured my professional growth.”

Guadarrama is responsible for delegating tasks to two other staff members and has proactively identified opportunities for process improvements and training of new team members.
