Legal All-Stars – Kate Wegrzyn, Foley & Lardner

Kate Wegrzyn, partner at Foley & Lardner, has built a 15-year legal career focused on commercial contracting and supply chain matters. She joined the firm in 2005, finding her specialty in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and advising businesses on supply chain issues.

In 2018, Wegrzyn helped found Foley’s Supply Chain Team, identifying a critical gap in the legal market and mobilizing talent across the firm. Under her leadership, the team has evolved into a well-regarded practice, particularly during the global supply chain crisis when it positioned Foley as a key resource during unprecedented industry disruption. Her work on the firm’s Manufacturing Sector Advisory Board has been instrumental in breaking down silos and unifying cross-functional teams.

Over the past year, Wegrzyn led the team’s expansion while supporting major client matters. She played a key role in negotiating a multi-billion-dollar supply agreement for a major client.

Wegrzyn co-created Foley Equipped, an AI-powered contract review tool that streamlines commercial contract review to create cost savings for clients. She coordinated more than 1,000 hours of development work, bringing together attorneys, technologists, knowledge managers and competitive intelligence professionals. Her innovation earned her the 2022 Wisconsin Legal Innovator Award from the State Bar of Wisconsin, and she was named a finalist for Innovator of the Year at the 2023 Legalweek Leaders in Tech Law Awards.

Beyond her legal practice, Wegrzyn served on the Wisconsin Humane Society board for a decade, including two years as chair, helping lead the successful integration of the Kenosha County Humane Society.
