Samantha Huddleston Baker appreciates that no two days are the same at OVB Law & Consulting.
A partner at the Milwaukee firm, Baker works with clients on their business law, real estate, administrative compliance and intellectual property matter needs.
“The best part about my job is that it changes every day. Given the wide variety of clients I serve across different industries and business groups, I am constantly on my toes advising on unique issues,” she said. “It is both challenging and rewarding, but ultimately speaks to the impact that attorneys like me have on small businesses.”
Emil Ovbiagele, owner of OVB Law & Consulting, said Baker is not your typical business attorney.
“She boasts an admirable set of experiences in the litigation area. She’s tried business litigation and employment matters to decision,” he said. “She’s also worked on appellate matters, including one that resulted in a positive outcome on the 7th Circuit.”
Baker received some of that litigation experience through her work at the Marquette Law Clinic and by taking on federal pro-bono prisoner and civils rights litigation matters.
“I now know that service to others is what fills my cup, so it seems fitting that I, likely unknowingly, gravitated towards the practice of law as it is truly a profession dedicated to the service of others,” she said.
Baker began volunteering at the Marquette University Legal Clinic as a 1L to gain practical experience and learn more about the local court system.
“The legal system can be complex and foreign to many, but these clinics offer a helping hand to help prevent prejudice against those who have no experience with the system and have no one else to guide them through the processes,” she said.
