Legal All-Star – Maureen O’Leary Guth – O’Leary-Guth Law Office

The daughter of small business owners, Maureen O’Leary-Guth grew up with a passion for both business and law.

The owner of O’Leary-Guth Law Office, she focuses on estate law in addition to managing all practice areas of the Mequon-based firm.

“Trusts and estates are a rewarding practice because it involves creating and implementing plans to address a wide variety of goals, such as wealth planning, asset protection planning, distribution planning and tax planning,” she said. “I chose (the trusts and estate planning practice) because it aligned closely with my desire to help business owners and families.”

O’Leary-Guth joined what was then known as Willms S.C. in 2008, became a partner with Andrew Willms in 2014 and acquired the firm from him in 2019, renaming it O’Leary-Guth Law Office. She credits Willms with being a great mentor.

“Andrew was instrumental in helping me and the firm grow to what it is today,” O’Leary-Guth said.

Since becoming the sole owner of the firm, she has taken multiple steps to grow the business, including opening a second location and then acquiring a larger office building in 2022 on Mequon’s northeast side to consolidate both offices.

The firm’s growth has been recognized locally, said Jenne Hohn of Serve Chiropractic LLC. In 2022, the O’Leary-Guth Law Office was named Business of the Year by the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce. A year later, the firm was named Small Business of the Year by the Ozaukee Economic Development Corp.

“I love working with my incredible team and my clients,” said O’Leary-Guth, who was named Professional Advisor of the Year by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation in 2023. “The people you choose to work with and surround yourself with can be the best part of life.”
