Providing consistency and continuity in the courtroom, Lindsey Anderson is a passionate advocate for domestic abuse survivors, dedicating her pro bono work to advocate for her clients across multiple courtrooms.

Anderson started at DeWitt’s Brookfield office as a summer law clerk, working her way up to partner. She focuses on divorce and family law.

“Her legal skills are impressive, and her book of business continues to grow given her steadfast commitment to her clients,” said Tim Stewart, president and managing partner. “She was the top performing associate in the firm for many years running.”

She made an immense impact on victim’s privacy rights in a ground-breaking case where a victim’s full name and address were disclosed in CCAP entries and a document request made public record. With this information accessible to the victim’s perpetrator, Anderson filed a complaint against the Clerk of Courts with the Crime Victim’s Rights Board (CVRB). The CVRB determined that privacy rights were violated, and in a ripple effect, the case’s report was posted to the Department of Justice website and distributed to every count in Wisconsin.

This knowledge gap for victims unaware of their rights fuels Anderson’s motivation as she strives to alleviate the additional trauma they endure in the legal process. The fervent dedication to victim’s privacy rights earned her DeWitt’s Jack DeWitt Pro Bono Award in 2019. Recently appointed co-chair of the DOJ’s Crime Victim Council, Anderson aims to influence policy changes that will strengthen protections for victims across Wisconsin.

While Anderson strives to foster relationships with her clients through their legal process, finding mentorship outside of the courtroom is vital for her as an attorney.

“One of my most-favorite people in the world, not including my family, is retired Judge Darryl Deets,” said Anderson. “Everyone needs a Darryl in their life. I go to Darryl for advice in so many areas of my life: from legal case strategy to parenting to marriage. Besides my husband, he’s probably my biggest cheerleader.”
