Jakob Feltham has dedicated his professional life to fighting for workers’ rights.

He decided to pursue a career in law while representing co-workers as a union shop steward at his workplace. Before attending the University of Wisconsin Law School, he worked as a labor and community organizer in New York City and volunteered at a nonprofit legal clinic in Berkeley, California.

Feltham joined Hawks Quindel in 2018 after serving as a staff attorney at the Dane County Courthouse. As a senior associate attorney for the firm, he specializes in applicant side worker’s compensation and approaches each of his injured clients with dignity and respect.

“He backs this up with diligent and skilled advocacy, and achieves outstanding results for his clients time and time again,” said David Zoeller, an attorney and shareholder at Hawks Quindel. “It has become so commonplace for his clients to reach out to us or leave a review on Google reminding us of this, that we likely don’t praise Jake enough.

“That takes us to another one of Jake’s outstanding qualities, humility. His apparent lack of ego has helped him become adored by our staff. They love Jake and work hard for him because of who he is and the example he sets.”

During his time at the UW Law School, Feltham gained valuable practical experience that he continues to draw upon. As a member of UW Law’s Neighborhood Law Clinic, he represented clients dealing with personal tragedy, fighting workplace discrimination and standing up to wrongful evictions.

He has been tested in the courtroom, having tried a case in front of a jury as a clinical law student, and second-chaired a criminal jury trial as a clerk. He also draws on his experience as an intern at the Department of Workforce Development’s Equal Rights Division, where he conducted employment discrimination investigations and drafted decisions for the Equal Rights Division’s Administrative Law Judges.
