In a testament to hard work, perseverance and leadership, Adam Witkov quickly ascended through the ranks from summer associate to equity partner at Michael Best. Witkov practices from the firm’s Milwaukee office and specializes as a business and litigation attorney.

“Adam is one of Michael Best’s leading litigators. Clients rely on Adam’s strategic advice on complex litigation matters. … (He) has a history of achieving tremendous results for clients… (and) is a go-to resource for his colleagues and the firm’s clients,” said Alec Fraser, managing partner at the firm’s Milwaukee office.

Witkov’s rapid rise within the firm can be attributed to his strong work ethic, creative problem-solving and an innate ability to connect with people. With a focus on clarity and consistency, he leads with empathy, setting clear expectations while fostering a culture of mentorship, teamwork and high performance.

Through his 15 years of litigation experience, Witkov adopted and maintains a certain mindset in approaching the varying legal landscapes.

“I’ve learned an important lesson that shapes how I approach every matter: I only control about 25% of what happens in litigation — my own work and strategy,” said Witkov. “While I can anticipate what the court and opposing counsel might do, I can’t control them. I also can’t control the decisions my clients ultimately make.”

This pragmatic tactic allows him to focus on what he can control to provide his clients with the best chance at getting a favorable outcome. He uses this knowledge and expertise to help Michael Best invest in the firm’s most important asset: the people.

As deputy chair for recruitment at the firm, Witkov is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and high-performing team. He values a strong work ethic, prior experience and strong interpersonal skills in candidates, recognizing these as critical components for success. Witkov also recognizes the importance of informal and formal mentorship programs, utilizing an open-door policy where everyone’s input is more than just desired, it’s expected.
