Many of us maintain a LinkedIn account for business networking. Some of us utilize this tool to post articles of professional interest; others include speaking engagements or conduct polls on relevant topics. However, the reality for some may be that after you have established an online relationship, not much else occurs.
LinkedIn offers a variety of useful applications to enhance your LinkedIn page. There is an app to post your Martindale lawyer rating. There are apps to share workspaces, to-do lists, reading lists and much more.
In late October, a new app called LinkOut was launched. This app is designed to assist LinkedIn users arrange meetings with others in your network. LinkOut has you set up your networking goals (e.g. growing my network in a geographical area or industry), identify the industries of interest and pick types/times of potential meetings. Next, LinkOut syncs with your calendars to locate compatible times with other LinkOut users.
Currently, the largest hurdle is the small number of individuals registered for LinkOut. If the app does take off, it may be a way to schedule in-person connections to build your professional network.
