Alex Stein had always been curious about becoming a lawyer.
His mom worked as a legal assistant, which gave him an up-close look at the profession.
“I ultimately pursued a career in the legal field because I was interested in a service-oriented career that would satisfy my desire to remain challenged intellectually on a day-to-day basis,” Stein said. “As I learned more about corporate law, I was drawn to the way it blends problem-solving with strategic business advising.”
Today, Stein is an associate on Godfrey & Kahn’s corporate team and practices out of the firm’s Appleton and Green Bay offices.
“He recognizes the importance of building relationships across offices,” said Laura Meronk, an attorney at Godfrey & Kahn. “Alex was the first summer associate to split time among the Green Bay, Appleton and Milwaukee offices.
“This approach left a lasting impression, and Alex still benefits from the deep relationships he was able to foster throughout the firm. Alex sees the value in meaningful in-person connection and the need to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, regardless of geography.”
Stein enjoys getting to learn about his clients’ business, and every day presents an opportunity to learn something new.
“The dynamic nature of each transaction, combined with the relationships we build with clients, makes every project unique and fulfilling,” Stein said. “Helping clients navigate significant transactions, which are often pivotal moments in their business and personal lives, is very rewarding.”
Outside of work, Stein enjoys spending time with his 1-year-old son and watching him explore the world.
“My favorite part of every day is seeing his face when I walk in the door after work,” Stein said. “When I am not spending time with my son and wife, I enjoy morning workout classes and playing on a men’s league hockey team.”
