U.S. Congressman Bryan Steil appeared alongside Donald Trump ally Rep. Jim Jordan Wednesday in a call “to support Wisconsin Republicans’ bad-faith effort to meddle in election administration and starve local governments of the resources they need to run elections,” said Wisconsin Democrats.

“Bryan Steil’s decision to team up with one of the top election deniers in Congress proves that his priorities are entirely out of line,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund.

“Jim Jordan voted to overturn the 2020 election and was Donald Trump’s right-hand man in his fight to overturn his election loss. The lies Jim Jordan told about Donald Trump’s 2020 loss don’t belong in our state’s constitution — but that’s exactly what Questions 1 and 2 would do, all with Bryan Steil’s eager support,” Oslund added.

In Steil’s message, tweeted by the Wisconsin Republican Party, he called on Wisconsinites to prevent out-of-state money from being spent on Democrats.

“We can prevent Zuckerbucks and out-of-state dark money from influencing our election,” Steil said.

A Wisconsin Law Journal investigation uncovered that Steil himself has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from out-of-state money from donors in the 2020 election. Donors include Koch Industries, Home Depot, several PACS, as well a long list of out-of-state individual donors.

As Steil raised the issue of influencing elections, Wisconsin Democrats pointed out Jordan voted to overturn the 2020 election.

Jordan was one of the 147 Republicans in Congress who attempted to overturn Trump’s election loss in 2020 by voting against certifying President Biden’s electoral votes from Arizona, the New York Times reported.

Additionally, Jordan appeared at a “Stop the Steal” rally moments before the 2020 election. Jordan said, “I don’t know how you can ever convince me that Trump didn’t actually win,” right before the pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6th, reported Fox News Radio.

Jordan also said, Trump couldn’t have lost the election because he got more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016, C-SPAN reported.

Additionally, Jordan was part of a false news propaganda campaign claiming election workers were committing voter fraud in Georgia, a fact-checking media source reported.

Jordan also was behind the investigation of Georgia Prosecutor Fani Willis who indicted Trump. The investigation disrupted and delayed Trump’s prosecution for election interference.

The Wisconsin Law Journal reached out to Stiel’s office requesting comment on Thursday. No one could be reached prior to publication.
