A Republican Wisconsin lawmaker and a popstar on the same side of politics?

Taylor Swift and Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos have never been strangers to media headlines. Just this past week, MAGA Republicans accused Swift of trying to sway the 2024 presidential election in favor of Democrats. And like Swift, recently headlines of Vos criticized for his love of country over supporting a presidential candidate who supports an insurrection. As Vos and Swift stood up for democracy, MAGA Republicans attacked both of them.

Around the 2020 Presidential Election, Swift said, ” These aren’t your grandparents Republicans,” as a billboard with former President George W. Bush stands beside a Minnesota freeway, saying “miss me yet?”

In Wisconsin, MAGA Republicans attempted to recall Vos from his Speakership role on the Assembly. The extremist recall attempt occurred after Vos had made several notable accomplishments of late, to the Badger State, including working across party lines to make sure the Brewers stay in Milwaukee, solving Wisconsin’s constitutional crisis from underpaid District Attorneys and Public Defenders, as well as allowing Milwaukee to increase local taxes to solve fiscal challenges.

The latest conspiracy against Swift alleges she is working in collaboration with the national Democratic Party and Biden Administration, the mainstream media and the National Football League (NFL) to influence the presidential election.

MAGA Republican attacks on the Nashville resident have been building for weeks, as Fox News host Jesse Watters asked on his prime time show earlier this month if Swift is a “Pentagon asset?”

CNN reported, “The bad blood is related to Swift’s 2020 endorsement of President Joe Biden and the fact that Travis Kelce, the Chiefs tight end whom she is dating, participated in an advertising campaign for the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. A Monday story published by The New York Times, which noted Biden would like Swift’s endorsement again this year, added fuel to the fire.”

As previously reported by the Wisconsin Law Journal, more moderate Republicans throughout the nation, including Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos have distanced themselves from Trump.

At a Milwaukee Press Club event last year, Vos said, “I do not believe Donald Trump can win the state of Wisconsin. … I do not want to nominate losers.”

Prior to that, Vos made it clear he would not support former President Trump during an interview with WISN-TV’s UPFRONT. “I hope that Donald Trump is a bystander, not the person at the center of the stage, and I’m going to do whatever I can to make that happen,” Vos said.

The comments sparked a recall effort of Vos for not supporting Trump.

As previously reported by the Wisconsin Law Journal in May, a Taylor Swift video (circa 2020) surfaced on social media taking aim at former President Trump. In it, Swift talks about being “on the right side of history” speaking up against former President Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

In the video, Swift was warned that if she speaks against Trump, she risks cutting attendance at her concerts in half.

Despite the threats of losing fans, the popstar said she regrets not having spoken up sooner against the former president saying, she’s “sad” she didn’t speak up against Trump two years ago, before the previous presidential election.

“This is something I know is right. … I need to be on the right side of history,” Swift said.

Swift has previously been critical of the former President in various social media posts.
