Lauren Kowalk thrives working under pressure as deadlines near. A legal executive assistant in Godfrey & Kahn’s Madison office, she supports four busy attorneys.

“I have been able to work with the same people for many years. Knowing what the lawyers need without them having to ask is a great feeling because I know they appreciate it. At the end of the day, the accomplishments are worth it,” she said.

Kowalk is known for making her attorneys’ days run seamlessly.

“Lauren is comfortable taking the lead on projects and steps in wherever help is needed,” said Emily McKeown, Godfrey & Kahn’s Business Development director.

With more than 20 years of experience, Kowalk takes time out of her schedule to train other legal executive assistants and answer questions from others in the office. When the firm opened a new Eau Claire office, she helped new employees get up to speed on Godfrey & Kahn’s procedures and best practices.

“Her deep knowledge and the concern she shows for fellow employees make her a go-to around the office for questions,” McKeown said. “No matter how busy she is, Lauren always makes time to answer a question thoroughly and patiently.”

Kowalk said she is happy to share her knowledge with other employees.

“I remember how scared I was to ask questions when I first started. I don’t want new team members to feel that way, so helping them is never a bother to me,” Kowalk said.

Around the office, Kowalk is known for her smile and positive attitude, McKeown said.

“Lauren leaves a positive impression wherever she goes. You can count on her to boost your mood, even on your worst days,” McKeown noted.
