What does Laura Meronk enjoy most about being a lawyer? Simply put, the people.

“I like to know that through our hard work we’re making great things happen for our clients and their employees,” said Meronk, a corporate attorney in Godfrey & Kahn’s Appleton office. “I love to feel a part of a team and to know that the work we do contributes to the growth and success of many Wisconsin businesses and the communities that they support.”

For Meronk, her work is all about listening and taking time to understand her client’s business, their goals, processes and values so she can provide the best legal solutions.

“When Laura leads deals, she isn’t just another member of the legal team, she is developing the strategy and leading the team from start to finish,” said Godfrey & Kahn Managing Partner John Haase. “Her goal is not just to serve as her clients’ lawyer who they call on when a bad or complex situation arises, but truly aims to become part of their team: someone who they rely on as their most trusted adviser.”

One of Meronk’s biggest challenges in her job is keeping things in perspective.

“We are often asked to advise our clients through difficult and/or stressful situations,” she said. “It can be a challenge not to let these stressful situations impact your focus, energy or attitude toward the other important work and people in our lives.”

Outside of the office, Meronk is passionate about giving back to the community. Growing up in the Fox Valley, she feels a strong tie to the area and recognizes that her professional expertise as a lawyer can make a difference. She gives back to organizations such as the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region, United Way Fox Cities and the Appleton Education Foundation through several past and present board positions.
