Former Milwaukee County Judge Brett Blomme has been charged with two counts of distributing child pornography.

The two federal charges are the latest alleged misconduct by the former children’s court judge.

A federal grand jury sitting in Madison returned an indictment on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District. The indictment alleges that Blomme sent files containing an image of child pornography to another user via Kik Messenger in October and November. He was serving as a children’s court judge at the time.

If convicted, Blomme is faced with a mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison on each count. The charges are the result of a Wisconsin Department of Justice Investigation and will be prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Chadwick Elgersma.

The federal indictment comes in addition to seven felony charges of possession of child pornography against Blomme. A complaint filed in March accused him of uploading graphic images and videos of boys as young as toddlers to an online messaging site. That case is making its way through the Dane County Circuit Court with a pretrial conference scheduled for July 15.
