Vince Morrone got a taste of business and transactional work early in life.
While Morrone was growing up in Kenosha, his father supported the family by running his own real estate company. Rather than follow exactly down that same path, though, Morrone decided he wanted to be the one helping to make sure deals are being put together in a legally sound way.
He has managed to find himself a place doing exactly that at Michael Best & Friedrich. His six years there have seen him quickly become a valued member of the firm’s transactional corporate group, acquiring expertise in fields such as mergers and acquisitions and lending. His many accomplishments include advising financial institutions on acquisition-financing deals ranging in value from $5 million to $75 million and taking the lead in various acquisitions ranging in value from $3 million to $60 million.
Morrone said he got a taste of litigation when he was in college and quickly decided it wasn’t for him.
“I have a background and interest in finance and economics,” he said. “And as an undergrad, I was always interested in transactional side of things. I like it when there’s more of a collaborative feel, when you’re bringing people together toward a common goal as opposed to trying to pick apart the other side.”
Morrone’s colleagues say that the quality of his work makes it clear his professed interest in transactional work is genuine.
“At an early stage in his career, Vince developed an innate ability to grasp complex legal issues and make them accessible to clients,” wrote Alec Fraser, a partner at Michael Best, in his nomination. “Vince also brings a strong business background to his practice and understands that a deal lawyer must help clients balance legal and business risk. My highest praise is that I trust Vince with my clients.”
Outside of his day-to-day practice, Morrone has used his legal skills and knowledge to help groups like the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center and cannedwater4kids, which works to ensure children have clean drinking water. A graduate of Marquette University Law School, he also helped the Marquette Legal Initiative for Nonprofits, through which he provides legal advice to various nonprofit organizations.
