Former Foley partner to lead federal bankruptcy court

A former Foley & Lardner partner has been named the new chief judge of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bankruptcy Court.

The court announced Monday that Michael Halfenger had been appointed chief bankruptcy judge for the Eastern District.

Halfenger will replace Chief Judge Susan Kelley, who recently retired.

Halfenger was appointed to the bench by Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook and took office in 2013. Before that, Halfenger worked in Foley’s Milwaukee office. Follow @erikastrebel
