A sovereign citizen who filed liens against circuit court judges was sentenced Friday to five years in prison.

Cornelius Hill, 35, filed liens claiming people owed him anywhere from $500,000 to $210 million, according to the Attorney General’s office. A Dane County jury found him guilty in September of 12 counts criminal slander.

Dane County Circuit Judge William Hanrahan sentenced Hill Friday. Hill will be on probation for several years following his release.
