Dashboard1e-Discovery Assistant is a subscription-based iPad app that was introduced in July. The application is the brainchild of former Quarles & Brady partner Kelly Twigger, who founded ESI Attorneys, a firm specializing in e-discovery and information law, in 2009.

The focus of the e-Discovery Assistant app is to put valuable electronic discovery information in the hands of attorneys quickly. The user starts at the “dashboard” to access rules, case digests, checklists, templates, a glossary and other resources.

Users can search Federal, District Court, and State ediscovery rules from a single location. A nice feature is the ability to view the specific rule in its entirety or, with the press of a button, only view the sections directly related to e-discovery issues.

There are a variety of useful checklists available on the app to assist with legal holds, considerations at the beginning of a case, and finding relevant electronically stored information.

e-Discovery Assistant also comes with a several sample forms and agreements. Each can be emailed or saved to specific matters you create within the application.

The case digests are detailed summaries of e-discovery cases. Cases that the creators consider “key” are included with the base price of the app ($29.99), which also provides access to a portion of the information available on the app.

To access all the content available, including state specific rules and case digests, a monthly or annual subscription is required.
