Federal Government Apps

I love smartphones and the possibilities for the legal field. There are so many fun and useful apps out there. There are plenty of articles about apps for lawyers, including my State bar article. I thought I would highlight a few government focused apps just in time to load them onto that new smartphone you’re getting for the holidays.

USA.Gov offers several mobile web links and apps that may be of interest:

Recalls.gov – is an application to check food, drug, car and other product recalls from the government.

Alternative Fuel Locator – is an app from the Department of Energy that provides the location of the five nearest alternative fuel stations

White House for iPhone – iPhone users can have a direct link to White House news by downloading this app.

Library of Congress Virtual Tour – my personal favorite! Launch the app and you will see a “virtual tour that mirrors the Library of Congress Experience.”

Postal Services – this iPhone app allows you to track packages and look up zip codes.

Thanks to the GovGab post for the tip!
