Tracking Health Legislation

I have written about the National Conference of State Legislatures in the past. However, I wanted to mention that they have a great database for tracking health care legislation. The “NCSL Health Information Technology Legislative Tracking Database tracks health information technology legislation from 2007 to present.” The database allows the researcher select all states or specific states. Searches can be narrowed by topic (e.g. Medicaid, privacy, etc.) and by bill type. It also allows for keyword and bill number searching.

Once a search is executed, the results are listed by state and include the sponsor, bill type, date of last action, the status, and summary. The site also provides a link to the actual text of bill. A nice feature is the “last update” date for quick reference on currency.
