Do you have a form for that?

I wonder how many forms the average law firm fills out in a week. It amazes me just how many exist. Regularly used forms are easy to find, but where do you look when in search of something new? Sure, you can just put the name into a search engine. That might work without too much effort. You could conduct an “advanced search” in your favorite engine limiting the search to the agency’s URL. That will probably produce better results. You can also go directly to the agency’s website and look for a forms page. (If they have one).

Here are a couple great search engines and websites to consider instead. First, of course, is the Wisconsin State Law Library. They centralize and organize links to Federal and Wisconsin Court forms, Wisconsin agency forms, and my personal favorite, Wisconsin County forms. The WSLL lists a county and the documents (not just court forms) that are available online. Obviously, items are limited to what the county actually places on the Internet. For example, Oconto County has a link to general forms (e.g. marriage & birth certificate applications) while Rusk County provides links to land use and sanitary permits.

For Federal forms, I start with the University Of Memphis’ Forms From The Feds. This site includes documents most often requested by the public. The site is arranged by agency. My next stop is Forms.gov. The interface is very easy to use. There is a query box, as well as the ability to search by agency, sub-agency/bureau, form name or form number. Still can’t find what you are looking for, the site offers other search ideas.

Please fill out the form below if you have any other suggestions.
