President Donald Trump has nominated Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca Taibleson for the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

“Rebecca has learned from some of the BEST and most HIGHLY RESPECTED Legal Minds in the Country, having clerked for United States Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Antonin Scalia,” Trump posted on Truth Social late last week to announce the nomination.

“Rebecca will make a fantastic Judge who will fearlessly defend the Constitution, and strongly uphold the Rule of Law.”

Taibleson first began working for the U.S. attorney’s office in Milwaukee. She also worked as an assistant to the solicitor general at the from 2019-22.

She was one of five people candidates U.S. Sens. , D-Madison, and , R-Oshkosh, forwarded to the White House in mid-July as options to replace , who will take senior status Oct. 1.

The Senate will need to confirm Taibleson before she can join the court.
