Todd Dickey was working at a Chicago law firm when the 9/11 attacks happened. Law firms began cutting jobs, so Dickey returned home to Green Bay to take a job in defense litigation.

“It was what was available but within four to six months, I had my first trial, and it was so much fun,” he said, adding the job was a good fit.

At The Everson Law Firm in Green Bay, Dickey’s practice focuses on defending insurance companies and insureds in insurance and tort law. Defense litigation is a diverse field, he said.

“The facts and how the law is applied is always different. They’re quite interesting and diverse,” Dickey said. “You need to be patient and do the best with what you have.”

Dickey said a mentor once told him that “you’re not a true attorney until you lose a case you should win and you win a case that you should lose.”

One of Dickey’s favorite times in court when his whole family attended. “They got to see what I do, which to me was really cool,” he said.
