Case Name: Board of Bar Examiners v. Jason S. Jankowski

Case No.: 2018XX000342-BA

Officials:

Focus: Law License Reinstatement-Conditions for Reinstatement

The Wisconsin Supreme Court reinstated Attorney Jason S. Jankowski’s law license, subject to specific conditions, following a petition for reinstatement after the revocation of his license in 2018. Jankowski had been conditionally admitted to practice law in 2014 but had his license revoked for failing to comply with the terms of his conditional admission. After undergoing independent medical and psychological evaluations, both parties agreed that Jankowski was fit to return to practice, provided certain conditions were met.

The conditions include: ongoing therapy for AODA and anger management, participation in the Wisconsin Lawyer Assistance Program (WisLAP) for 30 months, self-reporting any police contact related to drug or alcohol violations, and paying all costs incurred in the reinstatement process. Additionally, failure to comply with these conditions could lead to the suspension of his license. The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) initially opposed the reinstatement but later withdrew its opposition after reviewing the evaluations. The court adopted the referee’s recommendation and imposed the full costs of the proceeding, totaling $4,108.87, on Jankowski.

Decided 12/03/24
