Vickendrika Jones was sentenced to a 39- year bifurcated prison term after pleading “no contest” to an attempted August homicide outside of the Press Box bar in the City of Fond du Lac.

Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric J. Toney announced Tuesday that Judge Tricia Walker’s sentence is broken down as 19 years of initial confinement and 20 years of extended supervision, consecutive to any other sentence for Jones stabbing (attempted homicide).

“The community has the right to feel safe and be safe anywhere in public, at any time of day or night. The actions of this defendant stole the sense of security from our community and nearly cost a man his life. I hope Judge Walker’s sentence helps restore that sense of security and sends a clear message that violence in our community is not tolerated by the justice system,” Toney said.

The maximum sentence that could have been imposed was 40 years of initial confinement and 20 years of extended supervision, according to Toney.

According to a copy of the the criminal complaint obtained by the Wisconsin Law Journal, Jones is “a repeater, having been convicted of Battery and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping in Fond du Lac County Case,” among other crimes.

The defendant had an extensive criminal history in the Stake of Arkansas, starting in 2010 with a prison sentence for residential burglary and numerous additional criminal cases in Arkansas. The defendant then began accumulating criminal cases in Fond du Lac County in 2020 with approximately 8 open cases between May of 2020 and October of 2021, officials noted.

This case was investigated by the City of Fond du Lac Police Department and prosecuted by District Attorney Eric Toney. Toney also serves as President of The Wisconsin District Attorney’s Association and was honored with the Wisconsin Law Journal’s Unsung Hero award in December of 2023.
