Alexis Leineweber did not follow the traditional path to becoming a corporate attorney. The Foley & Lardner associate worked in the financial sector followed by five years as a sole proprietor of a custom home furnishings business.

“I really enjoyed the business aspects of my work in finance and the strategic and creative aspects of my design business, and determined that a career in corporate law would be a great amalgamation of the two,” Leineweber said.

Her prior professional experience has served her well in her current work responsibilities.

“(Her past experience) has allowed her to successfully grow deep relationships with clients across different industries, particularly those in the manufacturing and financial services,” said Andy Wronski, managing partner of Foley & Lardner’s Milwaukee office. “She’s definitely become a go-to corporate attorney.”

As a member of Foley’s Transactions and Capital Markets & Public Company Advisory Practice Groups and Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Team, Leineweber’s work centers on capital markets transactions, where she represents issuers in connection with initial public offerings and other debt and equity offerings.

“I enjoy my work in corporate law because it enables me to support our clients in pursuit of their goals and growth, whether that be through financings, acquisitions, development of their corporate governance strategy or conveying their performance and development to the markets,” she said.

Leineweber has mentored summer associates at the firm in her capacity as a Summer Project and Summer Program coordinator for the past three years, as well as mentoring new attorneys when they join the firm.

“These mentoring opportunities comprise some of the most meaningful and enriching parts of my job,” said Leineweber.
