Aaliyah Hernandez did not know what to expect when she started as an intern at Tusler Law in Appleton in 2018. She definitely didn’t intend to eventually balance roles as a paralegal and office manager. But she now wouldn’t have it any other way.

“My paralegal and office management responsibilities involve meaningful work, which makes me feel very fulfilled in my job. It’s nice to feel that what you do matters and that you contribute positively,” Hernandez said.

She was drawn to be a paralegal by her interest in law and making a positive impact in the community.

“The thing I enjoy most about the job is helping our clients and solving problems,” she said. “We are able to help a wide range of people in the community and it is rewarding to help people who are in tough situations.”

Besides her paralegal duties, Hernandez serves as office manager, which she said, “is a commitment to learning new skills at a rapid pace, which is great because I am always looking for new opportunities to learn. I also get the opportunity to help create an effective working environment and to help good people succeed.”

Balancing both roles can be stressful at times, but Hernandez said the rewards outweigh the challenges.

Attorney Ron Tusler said Hernandez quickly proved her value after joining the firm. During the past three years, she has managed 10 employees or interns from a variety of backgrounds, ages and ethnicities.

“Aaliyah has led multiple efficiency programs that help our firm stay organized and timely,” he said.
