Alex Eichhorn, Tabak Law secures $5 million workers comp settlement

Tabak Law has recently settled one of the firm’s largest worker’s compensation cases in Wisconsin history, says Attorney Alex Eichhorn, during an interview with the Wisconsin Law Journal Thursday.

According to Eichhorn, he recently secured $5 million in benefits for three workers who were tragically injured in a 2019 explosion.

Eichhorn noted although the injury occurred outside of Wisconsin the company was based in Wisconsin, so the settlement negotiations had jurisdiction in the Badger State.

Almost four years after the incident, justice has finally been served, he noted.

“I think ultimately there was a lot of justice served,” Eichhorn said.

According to Eichhorn, one of the injured had 95% of his body burned during the explosion, resulting in more than 35 surgeries to the victim’s esophagus.

The $5 million verdict was taken on a contingency fee, Eichhorn said, noting that a third-party settlement out-of-state resulted in an additional $20 million.

“In that case, counsel demonstrated there was knowledge of faulty leak in propane or they should have known,” he said.
