Large crowds breached airport security and stormed the airport in Dagestan, Russia Sunday, as a flight attempted to land from Tel Aviv.

CNN reported the man responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing is from the same region of Russia.

Reuters video shows a crowd breach the security of the airport and rock a police squad car.

The mob of terrorists swarmed the tarmac, looking to kill Israeli passengers, the Associated Press reported.

Dagestan’s Ministry of Health said more than 20 people were injured, with two in critical condition. Local authorities said Monday 60 people have been taken into custody.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has since called a meeting of top law enforcement officials Monday, after it was reported the crowd stormed the runway, surrounded the in-bound jet Israeli jet carrying civilians.

Russian news outlets reported there was “seemingly little resistance from (Russian) police.”

The terrorists examined the passports of arriving passengers, apparently in an attempt to identify those who were Israeli, the AP reported.

Viral videos and photos on social media show crowds waving Palestinian flags, overturning a police car. Others held hand-written banners saying “Child killers are not welcome in Dagestan” and “We’re against Jewish refugees.”

The airport attack comes just days after an American journalist was detained in Russia.

Last week, a Russian court ordered a Russian-American journalist who was detained on charges of failing to register as a foreign agent to remain in custody until early December, her employer reported.

The Associated Press, CNN, and Reuters contributed to this report.
