Sterling Law Offices has raised more than $25,000 for Mel’s Charities, an Ozaukee County nonprofit.

The family-law firm ran an online fundraiser in March, and more than 250 people donated a total of $25,737, surpassing the $10,000 goal.

One hundred percent of the proceeds were given to the special-needs community in Ozaukee County though Mel’s Charities. Sterling has a strong connection to the nonprofit. It was founded by Tom “Mel” Stanton, the husband of the firm’s paralegal Nancy Stanton.

Tony Karls, one of the founders of Sterling Law Offices, said it was an honor to team up with Mel’s Charities and make a difference in the surrounding community. Raising money for charity is part of Sterling Law Offices’ greater vision to empower families and the surrounding community, a firm spokesperson said.
