A former Fond du Lac attorney who asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to revoke his own license will not see his license reinstated.

The state Supreme Court denied Christopher Mutschler’s petition for reinstatement on Wednesday. In 2010, Mutschler petitioned to have his license revoked, saying if the Office of Lawyer Regulation would formally charge him, there could be “scores or even hundreds of counts of misconduct.”

The OLR conducted 59 investigations stemming from grievances from dozens of clients Mutschler represented in traffic, drunken-driving and criminal cases. Mutschler was also caught forging prescriptions to get pain medication and charged with two felony counts of forgery in Dodge County in 2007. The court revoked his license in 2011, saying Mutschler was “taking clients’ money and then doing little to no legal work.”

Mutschler filed a petition for reinstatement in December 2018 and had a hearing in July. The Wisconsin Supreme Court announced Wednesday that his petition was denied and ordered him to pay the OLR about $4,580 for the costs of the proceeding.
