Panel of Milwaukee judges, attorneys to discuss courts

A panel of Milwaukee-area judges and attorneys will gather next week to discuss how the American court system works.

The Milwaukee Bar Association will be the host of an event titled “Demystifying the Courts: A community discussion of history, purpose, function and structure,” which will take place 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Urban Ecology Center’s Washington Park branch, 1859 N. 40th St., Milwaukee.

Mitch Tiech of WUWM 89.7 FM Milwaukee Public Radio will lead the discussion. The panel will consist of these lawyers and Milwaukee County Circuit Court judges:

• Chief Judge Maxine White
• Judge Carl Ashley
• Judge Ellen Brostrom
• Judge Kevin Martens
• Judge Mary Triggiano
• Family Court Commissioner Ana Berrios-Schroeder
• Attorney James Griffin
• Attorney Craig Mastantuono
• Attorney Amy Wochos

Those who attend will also be able to learn about local legal resources such as the Milwaukee Bar Association Lawyer Referral & Information Service and the Milwaukee Justice Center.
