Statz keeps attorneys, firm running on time

For well over two decades, Lisa Statz has been a driving force behind Boardman & Clark’s success.

She began working at the firm in 1991. By 2012, she had become the office manager there. The job has her managing paralegals, legal assistants, office services and file-technician employees.

Statz provides training, oversees employee counseling, offers guidance for performance improvement and disciplinary actions and helps foster communication between staff and attorneys. She is also the affirmative action officer at the firm and works closely with the executive director to help with budgets and the firm’s annual professional-liability applications.

“I enjoy my job … because it is different every day,” Statz said. “One day I’m onboarding a new employee and, the next day, I might be ordering new furniture or working with our marketing department to organize a charitable sponsorship or event. It’s easy to do your job well when you love what you are doing.”

Statz sits on many of the firm’s internal committees, helping with important decisions and taking on a myriad of projects. No matter how hard the work might be, she has proved that she can step up and tackle it with enthusiasm and care. Even if a task is outside her area of expertise and requires her to learn something new, she will persevere.

“The words that come to mind when I think about Lisa’s role with the firm are ‘indispensable’ and ‘utterly reliable,’” said Alexis Wells, a marketing associate at Boardman & Clark. “It is hard to imagine how we would get by without Lisa plugging away at her job while also helping us do ours.”
