A Milwaukee prosecutor announced her candidacy Friday to run for a soon-to-be vacant judge seat in next spring’s elections.
Janet Protasiewicz, who has been a prosecutor for 25 years, ran for the Branch 45 judge position earlier this year, but was defeated in the primary by Rebecca Bradley. She is now running for the Branch 24 seat that will be vacated by Judge Charles Kahn later this month.
Protasiewicz will be on the primary election ballot on Feb. 18. The general election is April 1.
Protasiewicz currently manages felony prosecutions for the District Attorney’s Office. She has also worked in children’s court.
Michael Steinle of Terschan & Steinle Ltd. will serve as Protasiewicz’s treasury secretary.
