The Cardiff Index to Legal Abbreviations is one of those websites that you probably won’t use everyday, but when you want a reliable online resource this might be worth checking out. The database “allows you to search for the meaning of abbreviations for English language legal publications, from the British Isles, the Commonwealth and the United States, including those covering international and comparative law. A wide selection of major foreign language law publications is also included. Publications from over 295 jurisdictions are featured in the Index.”
The index is a product of Cardiff University’s Information Services. The database allows the user to search by title or abbreviation. The detail summary provides the researcher with some additional information including jurisdiction, the dates of publication, and if the title is a continuation of a prior title.
