On September 14th, the FCC announced the launch of “license view.” The online tool is designed to make license information more accessible to the public. The FCC issues licenses for the use of the nation’s airwaves and other purposes. License View is “a single portal for information on the management of licenses. Use License View to get data snapshots such as the number of licenses across different services, how many licenses different entities have, and how many licenses are up for renewal in the near future.”
The look of the interface is very nice and it is quite easy to search. They also offer a data dictionary to explain the various fields of information (look on the right hand side of the page). However, I had to refresh my browser to obtain it. Another nice feature is that it clearly states when the information was last updated.
Hip tip to Resource Shelf.
