Statistical Resources

When searching for statistics, I often start with The University of Michigan Library’s “Statistical Resources on the Web.” This comprehensive list of online resources is well-organized and quite user friendly. The researcher can either select a topic or use the main index. Primary topics include health, military, consumers, education, energy, transportation, weather, agriculture, and several others. Once a primary topic is selected, additional subtopics are listed to help narrow your search.

For example, under the primary topic of Health, the researcher will find subtopics ranging from accidents to births to health insurance to smoking. Each entry has a very brief summary explaining what type of statistical data is available. Another feature worth mentioning is that every page clearly identifies when it was last updated.
