WISCONSIN LAW JOURNAL STAFF//January 29, 2026//
The date has been set for a debate between Wisconsin Supreme Court candidates Maria Lazar and Chris Taylor.
WISN 12 is hosting the event between the two Supreme Court candidates on March 25 from 7 to 8 p.m. Both Lazar and Taylor are Wisconsin Court of Appeals Judges; Lazar is based in Waukesha County while Taylor is based in Dane County.
The debate between Lazar and Taylor will be held in front of a live, invite-only audience at the Lubar Center at Marquette University Law School‘s Eckstein Hall. It will be moderated by WISN 12 News’ journalists Matt Smith and Gerron Jordan.
The debate between the two candidates is being held ahead of the spring election on April 7. While the outcome of the election will not affect the ideological balance of the state’s high court, it would either expand or hold steady the existing liberal majority.
Along with being broadcast in Southeastern Wisconsin on WISN 12, the debate will be offered statewide in Green Bay on WBAY, in Madison on WKOW, in Wausau on WAOW, in Eau Claire on WQOW and La Crosse on WXOW. The debate is being held in collaboration with WISN’s Upfront partner, WisPolitics.
