WI Court of Appeals – District III

Case Name: Romero Coleman v. Rebecca A. Coleman

Case No.: 2023AP000021

Officials: Stark, P.J., Hruz and Gill, JJ.

Focus: Family Law; Child Support; Property Division First paragraph(s)

Rebecca Coleman appealed a divorce judgment that included decisions on child support and property division. The court of appeals affirmed the property division but identified two issues with the child support determination:

The court used an annual income of $63,300 for Rebecca instead of $50,000 when calculating child support. This discrepancy was not explained.

The court did not address which parent could claim the minor child as a dependent for tax purposes.

The appellate court directed the lower court to readdress these issues on remand, ensuring that the child support calculation reflects Rebecca’s accurate income and specifies which party can claim the child as a dependent for tax purposes.

Affirmed.

Decided 07/16/24
