While no two employment law cases are the same, there is one commonality to all cases: an individual who feels they have been wronged, according to Quarles attorney Judith Williams-Killackey.

“The types of (employment law) issues that arise are very diverse but underlying it all is having to understand the employee(s) involved in a dispute. Sometimes it is difficult to understand that (an employee feels wronged) even if the person is absolutely wrong, since, in many cases, that person feels their concerns are valid,” she said.

As part of her labor and employment practice, Williams-Killackey advises clients on traditional labor issues and litigating in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies and arbitrators.

Williams-Killackey was introduced to employment law while working in a litigation group at a large firm where she discovered the most engaging cases involved employment law.

“On one day, I can be dealing with an emergency regarding an employee who engaged in bad conduct and on another, I could be bargaining with a union. It is definitely never boring,” she said.
