Losing a long-term job, pay and benefits is one of the top-three stressors a person will experience in their lives, which is why attorney Alan Olson focuses his practice on representing clients who feel their employer violated their rights or wrongly terminated them.

“From CEOs to the person sweeping the floors, I’m there to make sure their voices are heard,” said Olson, who runs Alan Olson & Associates in New Berlin. “I represent employees throughout the country whether they work for a small business to one of the largest companies in the world.”

Olson said the cases he works on are fact-intensive and are emotionally driven. The key is to separate out the facts and make sure those are front and center.

When Olson graduated from Marquette Law School, he was intrigued by the number of new laws and protections going into place to protect employees. He decided to make employment law his specialty.

Olson has argued four of his cases in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, resulting in expansion of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing for employees and increased protection for employees in retaliatory discharge cases.
