“After spending the weekend accommodating the fringe left with shameful resolutions, the Wisconsin Democrats are doubling down on extremism by pushing their bought-and-owned liberal lawyer Susan Crawford for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Wisconsinites deserve better on the Supreme Court than a partisan shill like Crawford,” said WisGOP Spokesperson Matt Fisher on Monday in a written statement.

According to WisGOP, Crawford served as Chief Legal Counsel for Democrat Governor Jim Doyle from 2009 to 2011.

The WisGOP noted Crawford unsuccessfully represented the Madison teachers union in the legal battle over Act 10 back in 2012.

As previously reported by the Wisconsin Law Journal, Dane County Circuit Crawford launched her campaign to succeed retiring liberal Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, citing her previous work for Planned Parenthood as the fight over a Wisconsin abortion ban is playing out in court.

Crawford joins conservative Waukesha County Circuit Judge Brad Schimel, a former Republican state attorney general who opposes abortion, as the only announced candidates. If more than two candidates get in the race, a Feb. 18 primary will take place. The winner in the April 1 election will be elected to a 10-year term.
