On Monday, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric J. Toney announced that Elliot J. Schneider was convicted Damage of Property by Use of Explosives (Class C Felony) and First Degree Reckless Endangering Safety (Class F Felony) in 22CF411 and Felony Bail Jumping (Class H Felony) in 23CF254. The firebombing charges stem from an explosive device that detonated causing damage to a residence and endangering the safety of those inside on July 9, 2016, in the City of Fond du Lac. Co-defendant Jonas Johnson was previously convicted in 22CF409 of related charges and is awaiting sentencing. Sentencing for Schneider has been set for May 24 at 1:30 in front of Judge Anthony Nehls, according to authorities.

“We greatly appreciate the years of dedicated investigation by our law enforcement partners to help secure these convictions today. The defendant’s dangerous and violent actions threatened the safety and security of numerous occupants of the home. We are grateful injuries were not more serious and look forward to the May 24 sentencing date for the defendant to be held accountable and for justice on behalf of the victims and our community,” Toney said.

This case was investigated by the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation and the City of Fond du Lac Police Department, with assistance from the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Agency (ATF). The case is being prosecuted by ADA Gordon Leech.
