Liberal Renuka Mayadev announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the newly drawn Wisconsin 77th Assembly District.

Mayadev describes herself as an attorney. However, there is no record of her being admitted to practice in Wisconsin according to the State Bar of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Law Journal reached out to Mayadev on Wednesday. On Thursday, Mayadev responded, noting she is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.

Her bio shows she graduated from Georgetown University Law School and works as a public policy strategist, and public health expert.

Mayadev is openly pro-abortion and describes herself as ” running to protect our reproductive rights, the well-being of all Wisconsin’s children and families, and the very future of our democracy from the Ultra MAGA right.”

Mayadev previously worked for Democratic Governor Ted Strickland in Ohio.

Mayadev claims she has a proven track record of fighting for women, children, and families.

“Our democracy and basic fundamental rights are at risk, especially those of Wisconsin’s women and children,” said Mayadev.  “For the first time in many years, Democrats have a genuine opportunity to build a majority and pass laws that will protect our democracy, women’s reproductive rights, and the basic rights of every child to a better future.  I know how to get things done and will use those skills to make progressive policy solutions a reality for all Wisconsinites.”
