Listen to this article

In December, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed Executive Order #218 making minor, technical changes to the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. The order makes minor adjustments as to council membership and designates the council as the advisory body to guide the administration of the State Crisis Intervention Program grant initiative under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.

The council, originally created in 2012, has been continued through multiple executive orders and is charged with promoting and facilitating the implementation of effective criminal justice policies and practices that maximize justice and the safety of the public. Executive Order #218 supersedes in part Executive Order #182 signed on January 4, 2023, and supersedes and replaces Executive Order #41, signed on August 22, 2019.
