Dana Wachs of Gingras, Thomsen, & Wachs has been appointed to the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents.

The announcement came Wednesday after Gov. Tony Evers appointed Wachs alongside Jennifer Staton, a UW Parkside student, and Angela Adams, chief communications and diversity officer of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin. The three new regents will fill vacancies created by the May 1 term expiration of three former appointees.

Wachs graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1985 and is currently a partner at Gingras, Thomsen, & Wachs.  His practice focuses on personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability cases. From 2013 to 2019, Wachs represented the 91st Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Assembly where he was a proponent for the UW System, serving on both the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities and the State Building Commission which often handles UW System building projects. Wachs made a run for the 2018 governor election, but dropped out, endorsing Evers.

“After many years advocating for the UW System in the Legislature, it is truly an honor to be appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Evers,” said Wachs in a statement. “Our UW System is the pride of this state, and I look forward to helping it flourish in this new role.”

Gingras, Thomsen, & Wachs has offices in Eau Claire, Madison, Milwaukee and Waukesha that serve clients with personal injury, civil rights, employment, medical malpractice, family law and mediation and arbitration cases.
